On the west wall of the atrium was a rectangular niche. The interior was coated in stucco, with the back wall outlined by a thick black stripe. Along the bottom of the back wall were painted green plants with red flowers. Above this was a painted red stripe of alternating floral designs, almost like a painted version of an architrave. The painting at the top of the back wall of the niche has been damaged and is no longer visible. The niche had a slight projecting base.
